About us

💡Our Mission

As a coalition we commit ourselves in all we think, say and do to facilitate the processes that lead to preventing, resolving, and transforming prejudice against sexual minorities in the short, medium, and long term based on active participation on human rights issues in Sierra Leone.

🎯 Our Vision

A Sierra Leonean society that is free from all forms of injustices, stigma and discrimination against individuals because of their Sexual Minority.

📜 Our History

On the 15th March 2012, the Coalition for Equality and Gender was established based on the persistent level of discrimination and violations faced by members of the Sierra Leone LGBTQIA community. The coalition has been managed and run by its membership, comprised of the following organizations Youth Welfare and Development Organization (YWDO), Dignity Association (DA), West Africa Youth Network (WAYNE), Action for Men Sexual Health Network (AMSHENET), Campaign for the Voiceless (CAMPVO), and Equal Rights (ER).

Since its inception, the coalition has been implementing programs and projects in 4 regional districts (Freetown Western Area Urban District, the Headquarters Office with addresses at the Makeni (North), Bo (South) and Kenema (East)) with the intention to promote and protect the rights individuals of the LGBTQIA community through trainings, symposiums, research and documentation, float parade, developing IEC material on hate speeches, posters, flyers, handbills etc.
