Purchase of allowable PPE for 300 people

In an effort to help curb Coronavirus in Sierra Leone, Coalition for Equality and Gender with support from SYNERGIA Initiative for Equal Rights, developed and produced Information Education and Communication materials (IEC) on COVID-19 transmission & prevention for MSM, Trans and Gay communities. The Coalition was able to produce and purchase the following items: 

  • Posters and flyers with Covid-19 prevention information 
  • Face Masks
  • Hand Sanitizer

As part of the Coalition Mandate to stop the spread of Coronavirus, participants to the workshop were engaged with Covid-19 prevention and control measures. The following key messages were disseminated to participants: 

  • Regular washing of hands – participants were advised to use soap and clean water or alcohol-based hand rub/sanitizers.
  • Participants were also informed that It is important to maintain a safe distance from anyone who is coughing and sneezing.
  • Compulsory wearing of face masks when physical distancing is not possible especially in crowded places.
  • Don’t touch your eyes, nose or mouth
  • Always cover your nose and mouth with your bent elbow or a tissue when coughing or sneezing.
  • Stay home if you feel unwell/sick.
  • If you have a fever, cough or difficulty in breathing seek medical attention or call 117.

In addition to the above, prevention strategies such as wearing of face masks and hand washing were also observed by participants during the training sessions. Each participant received extra leaflets and posters to help disseminate Covid-19 information among their peers and community members.
